UPDATE: Firefighters tackle pair of weekend fires

Windsor fire officials say no one was hurt after responding to two fires over the weekend.

Firefighters were summoned to the first fire on McKay Avenue near Curry Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As they approached the scene, they noticed a substantial amount of black smoke.

The fire was confined to a rear shed. It was put out quickly with a truck and tanker on scene.

The main house was not affected. There was no word on a cause or a damage estimate.

The second one broke out soon after 10 p.m. on Sunday, on Eugenie Street East near Remington Avenue.

Firefighters arrived and noticed flames on the exterior of a home. An investigator was soon called to the scene.

Damage was estimated at between $75,000 and $100,000, with the cause noted as the suspended discarding of smoking materials.

No one was hurt, but two people have been displaced.
