The Chatham Maroons' last two games couldn't be more opposite.
The team hosted the Elmira Sugar Kings on Thursday, losing 7-5. The Maroons allowed 52 shots, by far the most given up in a game this season.
The first period saw Elmira score twice, with the Maroons getting one from Carter Chadwick. His 14th goal of the season was assisted by Ian LaChance and Aydan Doyle.
Max Skinner scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season in the second period for the Maroons, but Elmira countered with three of their own. Kaden Sienko picked up assists on both of Skinner's goals, while Jaxon Priddle and Alexander Lisi got the other helpers.
Bo Doxtator got the Maroons within a goal early in the third period. His second goal of the season was assisted by Skinner and LaChance.
This is as close as they would get to tying the game, as Elmira would find the back of the net two more times.
The last goal for the Maroons was scored by Aidan Edwards. Getting the only assist on the play was Xandre Aitken.
Samuel DiBlasi gave up five goals on 34 shots for the Maroons, getting pulled during the second intermission. Viljami Kukkola made 16 saves in the third.
The Maroons had a few days to think about the loss before hitting the ice at home on Sunday against the Pelham Panthers.
It was the Maroons who would get 50 shots this time around, which helped them win 4-2.
LaChance opened the scoring for the Maroons in the first period. His seventh goal was assisted by Doyle and Trevor Zanutto.
Zanutto added a goal of his own, his 18th, later in the period. Sienko and Josh Harding with the helpers.
Ewan McChesney extended the Maroons' lead in the second period with his 11th goal of the season. Zanutto and Chadwick would get the assists.
Pelham would get the next two goals, one of which being a penalty shot, before Doyle scored an empty-netter from Boris Genov to seal the win.
DiBlasi made 26 saves for the win.
