Police say no major incidents as city welcomed 2025

Sarnia police responded to over 180 calls for service over the New Year's holiday.

The service received 182 calls from December 31 through January 1, including five motor vehicle crashes.

One driver, a 46-year-old man, was charged with impaired driving in a collision on Wellington Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. A total of 28 traffic stops were conducted.

Officers also attended 14 alarms calls and dealt with 13 unwanted persons.

Police said over the two days there were 13 intimate partner violence calls.

A total of 14 arrests were made, five were outstanding warrants, while the remaining arrests were connected to investigations conducted.
