Chamber CEO Carrie McEachran said Stephen Lecce is this year's special guest speaker.

She said it promises to be an engaging event.

"We are launching our year again this year with our annual breakfast with MPP Bob Bailey," said McEachran. "He's always really wonderful for doing this for the Chamber of Commerce and the business community. This year, we invited a special guest who we found out right before Christmas will be attending. That's the Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce who will be joining us."

McEachran said it's a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the province's strategies for innovation, sustainability and growth in the energy sector.

"While we always take questions from the floor, we do like to have some questions in advance and those can be sent to the chamber of commerce at info@slchamber.ca," said McEachran.

In November, the provincial government announced plans to explore sites for future energy generation, including St. Clair Township.

The province’s demand for electricity is expected to increase by 75 per cent by 2050 according to Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator.

The annual chamber breakfast, scheduled for Tuesday, January 14 is open to the public.

It begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton on Venetian Boulevard.
