Inn's food bank get a boost from Islamic Relief Canada

Islamic Relief Canada is helping local residents in need who are marking Ramadan this month.

Volunteers with the organization were at the Inn of the Good Shepherd Thursday putting together Ramadan Food Hampers for members of the Muslim community.

The 40 hampers were made possible by a $10,000 donation to the Inn food bank. The donation will also go towards stocking the shelves at the food bank with essentials such as rice, flour, sugar, oil, coffee and other non-perishables.

One volunteer called the experience truly heartwarming.

"Myself and a few other volunteers from Islamic Relief Canada collaborated with the Inn of the Good Shepherd, where we prepared food hampers for families facing hardships during Ramadan as well as others in the community who may be going through a difficult time," said the volunteer. "It felt wonderful to represent the Muslim community in a setting outside our usual circle, and it reminded me how small acts of kindness can bridge gaps between different communities."
