Chatham man facing assault by choking charge

A 42-year-old Chatham man has been charged after allegedly choking someone.

Back on June 3, 2025, Chatham-Kent (CK) police received a report of an assault at a Chatham home.

The victim told officers that they and a man had gotten into an argument, with the man allegedly choking them.

The man allegedly stole a personal item before leaving the home. It was not specified what the item was.

Police filed multiple charges against the man, including assault by choking and theft, but couldn't find him.

On Monday, the man was spotted in a courthouse and was arrested. He's since been released from custody with a future court date.
